Stephen Payette has been studying improv and comedy for over 7 years. He began as a player in the Canadian Improv Games and now he teaches improv at both a regional and national level for the CIG. He has even had the privilege of teaching at the amazing Improv University for the past three years. He honed his skills in workshops all across Canada taught by multiple Canadian Comedy Award winners and through years of dedication to this amazing art form. Stephen has been seen around St. John’s performing in many shows. Some of his career highlights include: stand-up at Yuk Yuk’s St. John’s, the 2014 Sound Symposium Improvised Musical, and performing sketch comedy, stand up, and improv in Matturday Wright Live. Stephen is also a proud and active member of the local improv troupe Stanley Braxton.

This workshop is an introduction to the basics of improv. You will learn many of the fundamentals including impulse, listening, character building, and giving and accepting offers. Although this workshop is geared towards beginners, it is still a wonderful opportunity for experienced improvisers to keep their skills sharp. You can never learn too much about the essential elements of improv!
